Now that Seattle's summer weather has kicked in (at least in the late afternoons), we are carrying fresh squeezed lemonade from Scotty's Juice Tree! If you haven't had Scotty's lemonade, you are in for a treat. This is the opposite of artificial. It is so fresh, so perfectly balanced, so delicious, you might just have to come back for more the next time it's hot outside! Try it by itself or make an Arnold Palmer with some iced black Remedy tea!
We carry an assortment of juices from Scotty's including orange and grapefruit---they are all unpasteurized, super fresh, and yummy! Next time you need some vitamin C you know where to go!
Tea Feature: Plumberry Oolong from Remedy Teas---fruity, caffeinated, and surprisingly soothing
Posted 07/14/2010 in Tea.
We recently started carrying a few new teas in from Remedy Teas, our local organic tea provider, and we wanted to share our tasting notes with you! Today we are highlighting plumberry oolong. This tea is surprising, delicious, fruity, and smooth! It is delicious hot and over ice. If you like black teas but don't usually go for the fruit blends, you should definitely give this a try.
Here's what Remedy has to say about it:
"Close your eyes and imagine aromas of juicy plum tarts toasting near a roasting fire. Succulent tangy schizandra berries and darkened oolong tea is blended with the light essence of plum and hibiscus petals revealing a sweet, tangy and gentle brew."
Need we say more? What a perfect summer tea!
Wine Feature: In Fine Rouge from Bourgeois Family Selections
Posted 07/09/2010 in Wine.
This week we are highlighting another delicious sustainably produced wine. From the same producers who bring us Le Drunk Rooster Chardonnay, In Fine Rouge is a surprisingly robust yet smooth red wine aged in concrete tanks instead of oak barrels.
The phrase in fine means "to conclude" in Latin, and this wine is a great way to finish (as well as kick off) your evening. This wine is "a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah from younger vines growing on terraces hillside vineyards on the foot hills of the Mont Ventoux." It has a great deep red color, and a pleasing assortment of fruit and licorice flavors on the tongue. A great wine for summer, it is also affordable at Cortona. Come in and try a glass today!
